Tyler's First Christmas

Christmas 2007
Tyler got so many wonderful gifts, but I'm suspicious that what he wanted most was to be able to get his thumb in his mouth!

Christmas Eve

Our family opened our gifts on Christmas Eve so that we wouldn't have to truck even more stuff to Grandma and Grandpa's. Tyler seemed a little leery of everything at first, but as soon as we opened his first gift we got a smile!

The Little Russian

I'm posting this picture for Tyler's Aunt Holly - who says he looks like a "little Russian" in his winter hat.

One Month Baby and New Camera

We celebrated Tyler's one month birthday by buying a new camera. Its a Nikon D40x and definitely an upgrade for us. Now we can take even more pictures of the little guy!

Bath Time!

At almost a month old, Tyler is actually starting to like the bath...and diaper changes are getting easier too :) He still falls asleep while he's eating and gets up about every 3 hours, including at night. But at least he is in his crib and he has a little consistency. He's such a good baby, that it's hard to complain about much. When he is awake and alert its just amazing!!

2 Weeks Old

At two weeks, Tyler started to open his eyes a little bit more but for the most part was still sleepy. Except at night...I'll try not to keep belaboring that point. Just assume that is the case until he gets to be about six weeks old :)

Most people never saw him with his eyes open at this point, so I'll include the picture below as proof...

This is also the week that we discovered the beauty of the pacifier. Tyler loves to suck on the pacifier until he falls asleep, at which point it falls out of his mouth and he reminds me of a college student who passed out on the couch with a drink still in his hand.

Tyler and Ryan

The Saturday after Thanksgiving Amber and Doug came over to meet Tyler and brought Ryan, who was born September 27th. I was amazed at how "big" Ryan was, I guess its all relative!

Thanksgiving

Tyler's one week birthday was also Thanksgiving. And wow, do we have a lot to be thankful for!! We were able to spend Thanksgiving with both of our families, including Matt and Melissa in from California. We even talked to the San Diego Prudens over the computer and Tyler got to "meet" his cousins Katie and Davis!

Here is a photo of Tyler on Thanksgiving...

Going Home...

Everyone tells you how strange it is going to the hospital with two people and leaving with three, but nothing anyone says can actually prepare you for that day. Steve and I feel so lucky that we have so much love and support from our family, and those first few days it was especially helpful.

People also tell you that babies sleep a lot...what they don't tell you is that its only during the day and while you are trying to feed them!!

Here are a few pictures from the first few days at home...Steve and I were extremely exhausted so I will stick to photos of the cute one in our family for now :)

Tyler Robert Pruden

Tyler was born at 6:43 PM on November 15th, 2007. He weighed 8 lbs and 12 ounces and they measured him at 19 1/2 inches...but considering he was almost 21 inches by our doctor's appt a week later, we think maybe the measurement was a little off!

Since he is our first, I don't have much to compare it to - but I think the birth went pretty well! We got to the hospital at 5:30 AM on Thursday morning. My water had broken about an hour before that but my contractions were minor and about 20 minutes apart, so we weren't in TOO much of a hurry to get checked into the hospital! Steve likes to tell everyone how I slept through most of my labor (once I had the epidural) - so he thinks I had it really easy :) The delivery was anything but EASY, but at least I had some rest! And rest was one thing I was really going to need....
